Ness 640C Digital Cable Tester and Multimeter

Multi-function cable tester
SKU: 104-051C

NESS 640C multi-function cable tester and Digital Multimeter is a practical tool for installation and maintenance of technical personnel in security monitoring, communication wires, integrated wiring and other low voltage systems.

  1. Comprehensive cable testing

It supports virtually all of the cable types encountered by security and CCTV installers:

  • RJ45 Ethernet
  • RJ11 telephone
  • BNC coaxial CCTV
  • General low-voltage metallic cables
  1. Advanced network cable diagnostics

Unlike simple continuity testers, the tester provides:

  • Wire map
  • Opens and shorts
  • Cable length measurement
  • Pair status
  • Impedance
  • Signal attenuation
  • Skew measurement
  • Reflectivity (TDR)

These functions help identify exactly where a cable fault exists instead of simply indicating that a cable is faulty.

  1. Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR)
  • Measures cable length without disconnecting the far end
  • Pinpoints cable breaks
  • Finds crushed cables
  • Locates shorts
  • Works on network, telephone, BNC and other low-voltage cables
  1. Cable tracing

The supplied transmitter and receiver allow installers to:

  • Trace unknown cables in bundles
  • Identify the correct cable quickly
  • Reduce time spent searching through cabinets and ceiling spaces
  1. PoE testing

Useful for IP camera installers, it can identify:

  • IEEE 802.3af
  • IEEE 802.3at
  • IEEE 802.3bt
  • Non-standard PoE

It also displays:

  • Supply voltage
  • Which pins carry power
  • Polarity
  1. Network troubleshooting tools

Beyond cable testing, it includes network utilities such as:

  • IP scanner
  • Ping
  • Port flashing
  • LLDP/CDP detection
  • PPPoE dial-up
  • FTP server

These features make it useful for commissioning IP CCTV systems and diagnosing network issues.

  1. Fibre optic support

Includes:

  • Optical Power Meter
  • Visual Fault Locator (red laser)

This allows installers to test fibre links without carrying separate equipment.

  1. Built-in digital multimeter

It also functions as a DMM, providing:

  • AC voltage
  • DC voltage
  • Resistance
  • Continuity
  • Diode testing
  • Capacitance
  1. Large touchscreen

The tester features a:

  • 4-inch IPS touchscreen
  • 800 × 480 resolution
  1. Rechargeable transmitter and receiver

Both units contain rechargeable lithium batteries:

  • Main tester: approximately 6 hours
  • Receiver: approximately 12 hours
Part number

104-051C

Screen & Display

4 inch IPS touch screen, 800*480 resolution

Transmit Signal

Digital signal (decisively rejects noise and false signals)

Cable Types

Supports RJ45 twisted pair, RJ11 telephone cable, BNC video cable, and low-voltage metal cables

UTP Cable TestTests any two or more wires in a network cable. The screen displays the connection sequence, 1000/100M, and cable number. The receiver is identified through indicators
Continuity Test

Emitter: Minimum recognition length of 10cm
Receiver: Minimum recognition length of 1m

Short Circuit Detection

Supports network cable short circuit detection

Length Measurement

Measure opens of network cables ,max measurement length up to 3000 meters. Accuracy: Cable length x 3% ± 1m

RJ45 cable TDR test

Test cable’s pair status, length, attenuation reflectivity, impedance, skew, and other parameters. Maximum measurable length up to 180 meters

Port Flashing

Quickly locates ports connected to Ethernet switches and other devices.

PoE Detector

Supports IEEE802.3BT/AT/AF and non-standard protocol detection. Displays power supply voltage, power supply pins, and pin polarity.

Network tool

IP discovery, IP address scan, PING test, LLDP/CDP detection, Port flashing, PPPOE dial-up, FTP server, etc.
